Philmont 2014

14 days,
over 100 miles,
highest point 12,441 feet,
hail, rain, wind, and temperatures varying between 20 and 90 degrees,
lots of memories made

Before they set out on their journey they had the "poop" talk....in a latrine with 15 boys and 2 rangers. Awesome.

They shot black powder rifles

washed clothes the "old fashion way"

drank water from streams and rivers

hung bear bags

This was one of their toilets...ugh. Back to back potty chairs. More awesomeness.

They shot more guns. I am told this is a .30-06 rifle. Whatever that means???

some of the trees smelled like butterscotch

trying to keep the fly's off

this just makes me laugh

going to dig a hole...:)

If they could saw off some off his log in less than 45 seconds they could win a sweet treat...didn't happen.

budding photographer

On our trip to Alabama I put Braeden in charge of taking pictures. He ended up loving this job. He has discovered all these fancy things the camera can do. Here is just a sample of some the images he has captured...

I ran in the rain this morning. It felt amazing! I also saw a hummingbird. It's been a good morning. :)

Philmont Bound

The Boy Scouts in our Ward headed off this morning for 12 days of hiking at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico. They will be hiking around 89 miles or something crazy like that.

Braeden was so pumped that I had to give him a haircut to match his mood.....

Loading up at Lowe's this morning

13 boys and 4 leaders

I can't wait for the after pictures,
