An Eventful Afternoon

It's all over, but for a while there I thought we were going to have to jump into the food storage closet. It began drizzling, then raining, then raining really hard and sideways, then the hail began. Kate was scared. Joshua was fascinated by the weather men on TV. Then the tornado sirens went off. I got a little panicked.......Braeden stayed after school for UIL Math practice and I was worried the school would let him walk home in the down pour. They didn't. He was safe. He called and let me know he was in a room with "no windows." Then the rain stopped. The sun came out and no more sirens. I walked to the school and got Braeden. He was thrilled because it was so cool! I love this Texas weather!!

Pinewood Derby 2008

Last night was the annual pinewood derby for the cub scouts. Braeden absolutely loves participating in it. The first year he entered he didn't do very well. It was his first time, of course, and he just wanted to make the car that was pictured on the box of the car kit. Last year he did some research on the Internet and his car won the whole thing. This year he wanted to use the exact same car, but Cary wouldn't let him. So, he got back on the computer and researched again and found a new design. He tied for first with another Scout. They raced and re-raced but they never could determine a winner. I was thankful for that. The other scout was almost in tears....so it was a good thing it ended in a tie. Braeden loves competition of any kind and he was sooooo excited!

Easter Egg Hunt....Jones Style

We didn't go to an "official" Easter Egg Hunt this year. I was just to lazy to take the kids, so the Easter bunny left lots of plastic eggs filled with candy and asked that Cary and I hide them. The kids were way to quick so most of the pictures were of there backsides or they were a blur.

Happy Easter!!

New Moon

After reading Twilight I could not wait to get the sequel to it. I couldn't find it anywhere. Finally on Monday night I went to Target and there was one copy left, so of course I snatched it up. I wasn't able to start reading it until Thursday afternoon, and once I started reading I could not put it down until I finished it a few minutes ago. It did not disappoint! Loved it!!! I can't decide if I want to start reading the next one or if I want to wait until my trip to Walt Disney World. (so I have something good to read on our really long drive...ugh!) I don't know if I will be able to wait that long to see what happens next....

First Day of Spring

Today is officially the first day of Spring. I love this time of year. The weather has been so beautiful the last two days. The grass is starting to turn green, our tree has little buds, and the air is so fresh and crisp. I love it!! It is officially time to start looking for our favorite bluebonnets!

Hairy Lip

Joshua came home from the neighbors house with this on his lip. He wore it all evening. I made him take it off when he ate dinner, but as soon as he was done it went right back on his upper lip. He said he was going to wear it to school today, but I think he forgot about it this morning. He's so funny!

Popsicle Meltdown

Braeden did his science project on popscicles. He was testing to see which color melted the fastest. His hypothesis was that the darker colored popscicles would melt quicker because dark colors attract heat. He found that they all melt at the same rate. It was an easy project but lots of fun for him to do. I forgot to get a picture of his completed board but here are some of the pictures that Cary took while they were running their tests.

BRRRRR!!!

On Wednesday my kids were wearing short sleeved T-shirts and running around the backyard barefoot.........it was 68 degrees. Yesterday they were bundled up in hats, coats, scarves, and gloves running around in 4 to 6 inches of snow. Only in Texas.........You gotta love it!!

This was the beginning of the snowfall. Kate could not wait to get a taste of the fresh snow.

Braeden and Josh walking home from school in the "blizzard". Josh asked me why I didn't come and pick them up...we live two houses from the school. I took this picture from the garage.

This isn't a great picture, but if you look closely you can see the expression on Joshua's face. He's so excited! I love it!!
The snowman that Dad help build. It has already been knocked over.....

Holy Snowflake!!

It is snowing right now and the snowflakes are HUGE!! I will post pictures later if it sticks around.

Kate was so excited by the little bit of snow we got the other day. As soon as she was done eating breakfast she got herself half way bundled up (she felt she didn't need a coat) and headed outside. She was very disappointed.....she said, "Snow is suppose to be soft and fluffy, not hard and crunchy." It was soon after that that she was so over the snow.

Crazy Texas Weather

It snowed last night but will be almost up to 70 tomorrow. Crazy Weather!! The kids were hoping for a snow day. We got a few inches last night, but by the time they woke up this morning it had already started melting and the roads were completely dry. I tried making a snowman with what we got but my hands were freezing. I am such a wimp when it comes to cold weather.

This is my failed attempt of trying to build a snowman.....Pitiful!!
