Baby Bunny Update

The baby bunnies are growing so fast. Their eyes have not opened yet but they are covered in fur now. The momma rabbit comes back every other night to feed them which seems strange to me, but the babies seem to be getting all the nourishment that they need. They are super cute! We will all be sad to see them go when they are ready to leave the nest.

Kate and Molly

Yesterday I babysat one of the cutest little girls I know. Of course, Kate is the cutest but Molly is a close second. These girls had a really good time together. At one point they were upstairs playing and I kept hearing giggling and laughing. I thought I better go up and see what they were doing. I didn't want them to see me, so I quietly came to the door of Kate's room and snuck my head in. Kate was reading a book called Dooby, Dooby Moo to Molly and they both were just laughing and laughing. Kate must be a really good story teller because Molly thought is was the funniest thing. It was so cute.....it almost made me want a little sister for Kate....ALMOST. :)

Baby Bunnies

While mowing, once again Cary found some little critters. This time it was a nest of baby bunnies in the back yard. They are so tiny and must be just a few days old. They have no fur and their little eyes have not even opened yet. We have been keeping an eye on them hoping their mother had not abandoned them. We read that unlike birds, mother rabbits will return even if they have been handled by humans. They just need to be put back in their nest just like it was found. We also learned to put an X over the top of the nest made of twigs or yarn and if it is messed up in the morning then that means the mother rabbit has returned. We did this the last two nights. WE checked yesterday morning before church and it had not been disturbed. But when we woke up this morning our yarn X was intertwined in all the grass and rabbit fur. So we are assuming the mother came back and fed the babies last night. We have all been worried about these baby bunnies so much that Kate prayed for them last night during family prayer and I was ready to go and get some kitten milk to feed them today if the mother had not come back. They are super cute and we hope that they grow up to be furry little Peter Cottontails.

For the Birds

I captured this picture of Kate yesterday. We were bird watching and I think she got bored.....

...the ant hill was much more interesting.

HEE HEE!!

Kate came home from school with a permission slip that needed to be signed. This is what it said....

"My Pet for Special Occasions" will be visiting our school on May 22, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Students who do not return their permission slip will not participate in petting the animals (there will not be pigs)."

I got a chuckle out of this. Pigs have such a bad rap right now......Poor piggies!

YIKES!

Cary was in the middle of mowing the yard yesterday when he stopped to come in and get the camera. I didn't ask what he was doing. I assumed that the kids must be doing something cute and he wanted to capture it on film. I was wrong. A few minutes later he came in and showed me what he found.....

I guess that is what we get for living so close to the lake.

Joshua's first Phone call and more random stuff

The phone rang yesterday and I didn't recognize the name on the caller ID. I don't usually pick up if I don't know who it is but this person had called 3 times already. I picked up and said Hello and the little voice on the other end asked for Joshua. Joshua has never gotten a phone call before so I was taken by surprise. So, I called up to Joshua telling him he had a phone call and he came running down the stairs. It was funny to watch him and listen to his conversation. I think he was a little embarrassed, but he was super cute. The phone call lasted about 3 minutes. When he got off the phone I asked him who it was....it was Alex. I then asked him if Alex was a girl and he said, "NOOOO, Mom! Alex is a boy!" How was I suppose to know? The sweet little voice on the other end could have been a boy or a girl.

Mother's Day is a few days away so don't forget your Moms!! Braeden gave me an early Mother's Day card he made in Computer class at school. The inside of the card said, "Mom, you taught me so much even though I thought I knew everything already!!!!!!!!!!!" This is so Braeden....but it should have said,..."even though I THINK I know everything already!" Braeden is definitely my "know it all" kid, but I love him anyways!!

On a another note, I have a new favorite thing. Cary introduced me to a website called Pandora. It is an Internet radio site and I love it!! This is probably old news to some of you but we just discovered it. It plays ONLY the music you love. All you have to do is drop the name of one of your favorite songs or artists into Pandora and let the web site work for you. It will quickly scan its entire world of music to find songs with similarities to your choice. Then sit back and enjoy as it creates a play list designed just for your music tastes. You can create as many "stations" as you want. And you can even refine them. If you hear a song or an artist that you don't like then you click on a "thumb's down" tab and it will never play that song again. I love it!!
