Zoo in Review

Saturday we ventured out to the Fort Worth Zoo even though it was super hot. We love going to the zoo minus Cary...but because he loves us so much he endured the long drive, the heat, and the stinky animals.

I thought because it was so hot that most of the animals would be sleeping in the corners of their way to small pens/cages, but most of them were in rare form ready to play.

The monkeys are my favorite. It is so interesting to me how much they move and "act" like people. They are so cute!

Kate's absolute favorite animal in the world is a tiger. I don't know how or when this started, but she has been obsessed with them from the time she was very little. She even had to wear her tiger shirt that day.

The bird atrium was a little frightening. They were everywhere, but they were beautiful. Joshua and Braeden got a kick out of feeding them.

Kate was really brave and got to pet a horseshoe crab.....me, not so much.

And that my friends, concludes our day at the zoo.....it was a good day.:)

Springfield Zoo

While in Missouri we took a day trip to Springfield, which is about an hour and a half away from Joplin, to see the zoo. The weather was nice and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the zoo was. Kate absolutely loves the zoo! I think this was the highlight of the trip for her.

One of our first stops was to feed these very hungry fish. They wait at the surface of the water with their mouths open waiting for food to be thrown in.

Next stop was the petting zoo

There were beautiful flowers all over the zoo. These hibiscus were the size of Joshua's head.

My very cute niece Payton. She is the best baby in the world.

This was my favorite part of the zoo. We were able to get so close to the giraffes and feed them. They were very stinky and slimy but it was still tons of fun!

Petting a bearded dragon

The one and only hippo that the zoo had. He looked like a very large baked potato.

Zoo Fun

Cary took the day off yesterday so we went to the zoo. The kids loved it! Kaitlyn loves tigers, so it was so fun to see her mesmerized by them. She could have sat there all day watching them. Braedens favorites were the snakes and spiders, and Joshua loved the "Great Barrier Reef" in the "Australian Outback". I personally love the monkeys. It is amazing how much they are like humans. We had a great day together even though it was a hot 102 degress.
