me and my boys

Love these boys so much!

Somewhere in the midst of our impromptu photo shoot Joshua made his way in between Braeden and I. So we couldn't resist making a Joshua sandwich.

He looks like he is in pain, but I promise you he is enjoying every second of it. :)

Kate's 7th Birthday

Kate decided that for her birthday she wanted to get her toes done with her BFF, Adria. They loved the attention and "star' treatment they got. They said they felt famous.

Waiting for their turn in the chair..

Kates up...

Next Adria...

The finished toes...

On to the party

Yummy cake

Excited about Justin Bieber

The dress Kate begged for

The favorite gifts...the pillow pet and the ginormous puppy

Of course, Kate declared it the best birthday ever!!

Back to Prison

....or at least that is what Joshua would say, but it's really just the first day of school.

Braeden is headed to the jr. high this year for 7th grade. He is super excited...me, not so much.

Kate is in the 2nd grade, and Joshua is big man on campus entering the 4th grade. They look so happy and excited for school to begin!

But in reality this is how they really feel about it...

until next year....

This is how we spent our last day of summer. We will miss the lazy days of hanging out at the pool. Monday we go back to busy, busy, busy.

PS... have you ever seen one of these? The kids found this bug hanging out at the pool. They were calling it a jalapeno dragonfly...I guess I need to google it.

losing my touch

I usually pride myself on my baking. It's usually pretty darn tasty. But lately I have had a string of mishaps and my confidence has been shaken.(ok, not really...but that sounds more interesting) In the last two weeks I have screwed up brownies, strawberry jam, wheat bread, home-made oreo cookies, and yesterday the frosting for my coveted cinnamon rolls. I think I'm going to have to stick to making rice-krispie treats until I get my mojo back. *SIGH*

BFF's

Kate informed me the other day that Adria is not only her best friend, but she is her BFF. It is so funny to hear her tell people, "Adria is my BFF"...and that is exactly how she says it. Because best friend just isn't enough...they are Best Friends Forever!

and speaking of BFF's...I have known these two girls since I was in the 5th grade. I was lucky enough to go up to OKC this past weekend for a little reunion. We had so much fun reminiscing about the good old days at Tinker Elementary and Jarman Jr. High. Thanks for the fun weekend, Tori and Amy!

I'm not THAT old

Yesterday, Kate and I were having a very nice mother/daughter bonding moment while painting our toes together when we had a conversation that went like this:

Kate: Mom, when you were a baby was it like 1929 or something?
me: uh, no....it was 1976
Kate: WHOA!

Yeah, that made me feel good. Gotta love the things that come out kids mouths.

Bloomin' Flowers

I use to hate my front yard. We had crooked trees, prickly holly bushes, and crazy monkey grass....it wasn't very inviting. This last spring we pulled out all the ugly landscaping and replanted everything new. It is all blooming now and looks so beautiful. I now love to pull up in my driveway and see all the beautiful colors and see just cute my little yard has become. :)

P.S......I left Kate alone in the shower for a few minutes and when I went in to check on her this is what I found. She was in her star-shaped goggles, squeegee in hand, wiping down the glass doors. We had just come home from the swimming pool and I guess she had not had enough.

Zoo in Review

Saturday we ventured out to the Fort Worth Zoo even though it was super hot. We love going to the zoo minus Cary...but because he loves us so much he endured the long drive, the heat, and the stinky animals.

I thought because it was so hot that most of the animals would be sleeping in the corners of their way to small pens/cages, but most of them were in rare form ready to play.

The monkeys are my favorite. It is so interesting to me how much they move and "act" like people. They are so cute!

Kate's absolute favorite animal in the world is a tiger. I don't know how or when this started, but she has been obsessed with them from the time she was very little. She even had to wear her tiger shirt that day.

The bird atrium was a little frightening. They were everywhere, but they were beautiful. Joshua and Braeden got a kick out of feeding them.

Kate was really brave and got to pet a horseshoe crab.....me, not so much.

And that my friends, concludes our day at the zoo.....it was a good day.:)
