Awards

We are very proud of Joshua this year. It started out a little rough at the beginning and we sometimes thought we wouldn't make it through. He had an excellent teacher to help him along the way. WE love her lots and wish that she would move up to first grade. Joshua received the "Eager to Learn Award" and Excellence in Computers.

Braeden: A honor roll for the whole year
Perfect Attendance for the whole year
Six Flags reading certificate
Commended Reading TAKS - perfect score on his reading TAKS
Commended Math TAKS - missed two on his Math TAKS
Voted Mathematician in his class
Star Student Award
Excellence in P.E.
Braeden is our over achiever. I think he is going to be one of those kids that everyone is annoyed with because He excels in almost everything he does. WE are very proud of him though and hopes he stays as interested in school when he gets to High School.
We love you guys!!

Joshua's Sunset

We were driving home from a soccer game one evening and Joshua got so excited about the sun going down behind the clouds. He kept begging me to take a picture........of course I didn't want to try to take a picture and drive at the same time fearing we would wreck and all die. He kept begging and begging though. He kept saying, "but Mom it's so beautiful"! So I finally got him to stop begging me by telling him if I got to a stoplight I would take the picture. We made it to a stop light and here is his sunset. The picture really doesn't do it justice.

It's Watermelon Season!

Kate has been dying to eat some watermelon since last summer. Every time we would go to the grocery store we would see these itsy, bitsy watermelons that were exorbitantly priced and
she would ask, "Is it summer yet"? She finally got her watermelon this past weekend. Cary had a company picnic and we splurged and bought two watermelons. They were still 7 bucks each,
but whats a picnic without watermelon. I think Kate probably ate half a watermelon herself.
She was in heaven!

Mothers Day 2007

I was spoiled once again yesterday for Mothers Day. It was lots of fun. Cary got the kids up for church, fed them, bathed them, got them all ready and ironed the clothes so that i could sleep in for a little while longer. The kids then showered me with gifts. Cary got me roses and an MP3 player that i have been wanting. Braeden heard me say the other day while I was watching TV that I wanted a Swiffer so he went out and bought me one with his birthday money. Joshua made me a candle holder at school and a card with a poem. Kate made me a card and gave me my favorite candy bar. After church Cary made us lunch. HE grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon, baked potatoes, and salad. He also made me chips and salsa so that I could munch while I watched my favorite show, Survivor that evening. It was a great day and I felt very loved!

Braeden's soccer season officially ended last night. His team had a great season. His last game was very interesting. The coach for the other team was red carded. I don't really know what that means, but it's not good. He was a poor sport. To bad the seaon had to end that way, but over all it was great and Braeden had a blast.

Teacher Appreciation

This week is teacher appreciation week. We usually get our teachers soap from Bath and Body Works, but this year the school had an outline of what we should bring the teachers everyday.
Monday - candy
Tuesday - flowers
Wednesday - poem
Thursday - picture
Friday - office supplies
The kids are loving taking something to their teachers everyday. On Monday we sent candy bars, on Tuesday I made pens that look like flowers and put them in flower pots, and today they took poems that they wrote. I helped Joshua with his, but Braeden came up with his on his own.
Ode to Mrs. Finney (Joshua's teacher)
Mrs. Finney is so great
She really takes the cake.
She is my favorite teacher
Much better then a creature.
I love it when she reads us books,
She's better then a 5 star cook.
I'll really miss her lots...
First grade I might boycott!
Mrs. Moorhead, Mrs. Moorhead (Braeden's teacher)
Mrs. Moorhead, Mrs. Moorhead so pretty and bright,
I love when you cheer me with lots of delight.
When I am around you, you make me say:
Mrs. Moorhead I love you, I love you, I do!

Field Day

The weather was perfect for Braeden's field day today. The sun was shining and the temperature was just right. Fun was had by all!

Joshua had his field day yesterday and the weather did not cooperate. It started out drizzling off and on and the day just got worst. They played until they got soaked. He still had fun, but he was a bit disappointed because he didn't get to jump in the bounce house.

SOLD!!!

Ok....so our house has been sold for about a week now but I guess I just couldn't believe it would sell that quickly so I kept waiting for the buyers to come back and say,"Just Kidding". We put our house up for sell on a Wednesday, the buyers came through on Saturday, and made an offer on Monday. We went back and forth with them until we came to an agreement a few days later. They came through the house one more time for an "inspection" and they liked it. So we are officially moving. Our closing doesn't happen until the end of May so we have plenty of time to pack up and get the kids use to the idea of a new house and school. We are very excited!

Happy Birthday to Braeden!! (yesterday)

We had a very busy weekend, so my apologies to Braeden for not posting for him on his birhtday. Here are some pictures of his party. We went to Adventure Landing with 5 of his friends for unlimited laser tag, putt putt golf, and arcade games. We then came back to our house for pizza, cupcakes and presents. Braeden got lots of good presents. He got the basketball he has been wanting, a really cool bank that keeps count of the money you put in it, a remote control airplane, a walmart gift card, and lots of money. Money is apparently the gift to give these days. Braeden says now that he is nine he feels like he can sing with a deeper voice and he feels lazier. Happy Birthday, Braeden!! We love you!!

Braeden Finally Got a Haircut!

Before.......

During..........

and After.........

Braeden decided to grow his hair out around Christmas time. I kept thinking he would eventually grow out of this after a few weeks of shaggy hair, but he continued to let it grow and grow. His original plan was to let it grow until the end of the school year and then shave his head. I think he decided that his hair was to long when he realized that having long, shaggy hair was to hot. He would come in really sweaty from playing and especially after soccer games. On Sunday when I was combing his hair I told him it was time to at least trim it up around his ears and neck and that is when he decided to just cut it all off. So on Monday after school he was ready to do it. We went into the back yard and started shaving it all off. He is glad that he did it. I think his head feels a lot lighter now.

Easter

The Easter Bunny didn't come to our house until after Church on Sunday. We go to church at 9:00a.m. so I asked the bunny to come while we were at church. I didn't want the baskets to be a distraction to the kids while trying to get ready. When we got home the baskets were hidden and the kids had to search the house for them. After that we went to our good friends the Flores's for dinner and an egg hunt. The food was delicious and the kids had a blast. It was a really good day.

Texas Blue Bonnets

I love Texas in the Springtime! I look forward to seeing the blue bonnets every year. There is a cemetery that is set up on a hill and the fields around it are covered in blue bonnets. We go there every year to take pictures of the kids. Braeden is starting to get annoyed by this tradition.....he is more interested in looking at the headstones. We had time to kill yesterday because of house showings so we stopped by and I just happen to have the camera. The kids aren't dressed in there best, but I still got some good pictures.
